catching the tiny magical moments of life

A bummer of a summer

Summer was a bit of a downer this year, as the threat of job loss has loomed large for me since July. We tried to make the most of the sun, though, with plenty of outdoor treats and visits and experiences.

  • Despite poor weather, my June craft fair went well: 7 dolls, 7 sock animals, and 1 sock snowman found homes this year.
  • We hosted a variety of lovely company in our backyard patio, including an extra special post-honeymoon visit from Becky and husband Nate!
  • We travelled to see family in Washington (for Shane’s mom’s 70th birthday) and Minnesota (for my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary).
  • We made local visits to Cypress Mountain, Fort Langley, and the PNE Fair.
  • Tilly got practice meeting many new four-legged friends with visits to a “dog ranch” in south Richmond.
  • We remulched the big garden area in our front yard.

Now we’re preparing for a mid-October trip overseas to see figure skating in France and a play in London. We’d be happy to hear any travel advice you might have!

(Hopefully I will continue to survive in my job until then.)

I’m sorry things have been so stressful at work-that’s a lot to hold and I really hope things ease up for you soon. Your hosting space sounds absolutely lovely for summer, and the Europe trip is such exciting news! Wishing you a refreshing, joyful trip with lots of beautiful memories ahead!
